Dog Crate – Tips To Help You Take Care Of A Dog

Few important things you need to know about dog crate. Dog ownership isn’t easy. Issues like finding the best dog food, getting quality medical care, grooming and regular exercise have to be fully considered. Do you know everything there is to know about dog care? The following tips will teach you how to take great care of your dog.

Be sure your house is dog-proofed. Take the time to tour your home with an eye for safety before you introduce your dog to your home. Medicine and cleaners should be stored, and indoor trash should be placed in a cabinet. Some plants in your house may be toxic to your dog, so they should be kept where your dog cannot reach them.

Your dog cannot speak, so you have to interpret non-verbal cues. If it seems as though your dog holds back when around other dogs or people, don’t insist that they interact. That could lead to another person or dog being bitten. Keep eye on non-verbal clues and look toward your dog for your next move.

Crate

Check to make sure your dog’s collar is adjusted properly by fitting two of your fingers comfortably underneath it and pulling gently. There should be just enough room to do this and no more, otherwise he may be able to wiggle out of it. Always keep it on, except during crate transport, as the collar can get snagged and injure.

Keep your dog in comfortable housing. They should be able to rest off the floor and away from drafts. A training crate is a good choice or any covered shelter outside. Try placing a dog bed inside that has a warm blanket or a pillow inside. Wash the dog’s bedding frequently.

When crate training a dog, be sure to allow it to stop making noise (barking, whining, crying) for at least 30 seconds before opening the crate up. This is important because otherwise the dog will believe that as long as it keeps making noise, you will come and open the crate. It can be hard to do this, but is necessary. Of course, always be sure that the dog is safe and not making noise for some other reason.

Dog Crate

If you’re going to be away from your dog for a short period of time, it might be a good idea to invest in a dog crate. A crate for your dog will provide it with a safe and secure area to go into when you aren’t able to watch it for a period of time.

If you have younger children in your home, a dog crate or dog area in your house may be a good idea. With younger children running around all day, your dog may become stressed out and want a safe place to go relax. A crate can provide your dog with a dog only area where it can take a break from a hectic day.

This expert advice is something that you will remember so that you may use it with your dog every day. When it comes to mastering dog ownership, you have the foundation you need to make it happen. If you just apply the tips above, you and your dog can be very happy together.
